External Areas Around an Ultra-Modern Home

Built by the Comiskey Group, SEQ Waterproofing had the privilege of collaborating on The Cactus House.  The property is used for TV, film, photoshoots, corporate events, and offers expansive views of Brisbane city. 

A stunning ultra-modern Palm Springs-inspired location within the inner-city suburbs of Brisbane. The Cactus House has become an iconic backdrop featuring in campaigns for some of Australia’s most premium brands. 

Merging minimalist and mid-century modern with contemporary textures including bold concrete slabs and desert stone walls, The Cactus House is a dream space for every creative offering a photo opportunity at every turn.

All Waterproofing materials were supplied by Bayset.

Planter box

Preparatory: Appropriate falls to drainage outlet in the substrate to be waterproofed; Mapei Mapecem Quickpatch used for falls to drains. 

Floor cushion layer: 1 layer of geotextile applied to the floor.

Floor fastening method: FLAGON TPO coated metal fabricated 70 mm x 50 mm angle 90 degrees mechanically fastened to the substrate on the wall floor junctions and used to secure to the substrate. 

Walls Membrane: Flagon TPO EP PR detail roll to the upstands/walls. 

Floor Membrane: Flagon TPO EP PR detail to the floor 

Drain Outlets: Flagon TPO 40mm pipe collars.

Drainage Cell: WPA Drainage Cell, a drainage cell and root-resistant protection board. 

Podium

Preparatory: Appropriate falls to drainage outlet in the substrate to be waterproofed. 

Primer: WPA 460, two-part water-based epoxy primer.

Transitions: WPA SPUR, a high quality, professional, universal, low modulus sealant based on hybrid technology.

Membrane above Soil Level: WPA 230UV, a one-part fibre-reinforced water-based polyurethane membrane. (Minimum of 2 coats to achieve a DFT of 1000 microns).

Non-Porous Surfaces: WPA SB, is a clear fast-drying solvent-based primer.

Transitions: WPA FC, is a high-performance, fast cure, one-component polyurethane sealant.

Membrane: WPA 992, one-part liquid applied moisture-cured polyurethane membrane system, with the addition of WPA 992 Root Inhibitor Additive, root inhibitor membrane additive (minimum 2 coats to achieve a DFT of no less than 1200 microns).

Membrane Protection: Coreflute Protection Board, extruded polypropylene sheet.

Drainage Cell (If required): WPA Drainage Cell, a drainage cell and root-resistant protection board.
